Self Checkout kiosks have been implemented in Karaca stores to accelerate the customer experience and make payment processes more efficient.

Within the scope of the project, the kiosks positioned inside the stores allow customers to scan their products themselves, create their shopping carts, and complete payment transactions directly through the kiosk.

Adapting to the store concept thanks to its modern and compact design, self-checkout points bring together essential hardware such as a touch screen, barcode scanner, payment terminal, and receipt printer on a single kiosk.

Karaca Problem
What was the Problem?

Increasing customer traffic and busy shopping periods in Karaca stores could lead to longer waiting times and increased checkout congestion, especially at payment points. In the traditional checkout structure, the fact that all payment transactions were handled by staff caused customer flow to slow down during busy hours and negatively affected the store experience.

Having to queue up again for payment after selecting products created unnecessary time loss at the final stage of the shopping process. At the same time, the inability of existing checkout points to scale quickly according to density increased the operational load, especially during campaigns and high visitor traffic periods.

In line with Karaca’s modern retailing approach, there was a need for a fast, easy, and store-integrated self-checkout infrastructure where customers could complete their shopping more independently, scan their products themselves, and make payments directly.

Checkout Congestion

During busy shopping hours, customers heading to the same checkout points caused waiting times to increase and congestion to form in payment areas.

Prolonged Payment Process

The fact that customers who completed product selection had to wait in the traditional checkout line extended the final stage of the shopping experience more than necessary.

Operational Load
Operational Load

The execution of all payment transactions by personnel increased the operational burden on store teams, especially during busy periods.

Need for Alternative Payment Points
Need for Alternative Payment Points

In order to distribute customer traffic within the store more evenly, there was a need for fast, easy-to-use, and independent payment points in addition to existing cash registers.

How Did We Solve It?

Self Checkout kiosks were integrated into store operations to speed up the payment process in Karaca stores and offer customers a more independent shopping experience.

A user-friendly structure was created where customers can scan their products on their own, check their baskets, and complete their payments directly. All necessary components such as a touch screen, barcode scanner, payment terminal, and receipt printer were brought together on a single kiosk.

By positioning the self-checkout points in the right areas inside the store, alternative payment channels to traditional cash registers were created. This ensured a more balanced distribution of customer traffic, a reduction in checkout queues during peak hours, and a faster payment process.

Thanks to kiosk designs compatible with Karaca's different store concepts, the solution was both integrated into the existing store architecture and transformed into a modern and accessible fast payment experience that customers can easily notice and use.

Self Checkout Kiosk
Self Checkout Kiosk

The **Self Checkout Kiosk** solution was used in Karaca stores so that customers could complete their shopping quickly and independently. Managed through a touch screen, the system gathers all steps from the customer including products in the payment process to completing the transaction at a single point. Thanks to the hardware on the kiosk for barcode reading, payment, and receipt operations, a user-friendly payment point alternative to the traditional checkout process is created. Positioned in easily accessible areas inside the store, Self Checkout Kiosks help direct customers to different payment points during peak periods while supporting the shopping process to proceed faster. Adapted to the Karaca store concept with its physical design and integrated hardware structure, the system offers not just a payment terminal, but **an integrated self-service experience where the customer can complete their shopping under their own control**.
